Missions

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,  I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

Matthew 25:35-36

First United Methodist Church of Gadsden is engaged in service to our community through several missions.  It is our heart-felt desire to be “the hands and feet of Jesus” locally, regionally, and to the ends of the earth.
We would love to have you come and join us on the journey.

Mission Focus by Month

The GFUMC Mission Team supports local missions and plans mission projects for members of our church families to take part in  throughout the year.  Watch for more details for these and other opportunities in our CHURCH NEWS each week.

Here are Missions for 2023:
January and February:  Tornado Buckets
Your Mission Team will be leading the way in January and February to once again fill Tornado Buckets for the UMCOR Disaster Relief Warehouse in Decatur!  This year, we will be collecting donations of items for the buckets so that those can then be divided up and packed!  You can help by donating multiple quantities of the same item or by sponsoring a tornado bucket.  The estimated cost of the items for one tornado bucket is $120.  We hope to have lots of buckets ready to take to our Disaster Relief Warehouse at the end of February.
March                 Church Workdays, March 24 @12:30 pm and March 25 @ 9 am- Spring Cleaning for all areas of the church buildings.
