Tomilyn Eagar Isbell lived life to the fullest and was adored and revered by her family and friends. She died peacefully at home of natural causes on Oct. 27 at age 82.
Tomilyn was the daughter of Thomas and Frances Eagar and was born on April 27, 1939 in Montgomery, Ala. She graduated from Auburn High School in 1956 and received a bachelor's degree in Secretarial Science from Auburn University in 1960.
While at Auburn, she met the love of her life, James Isbell, and the two married in 1960 and then later made their home in Gadsden, Ala. In 2008, they moved to Woodstock, Ga. to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
Tomilyn is survived by her husband of 61 years, James; her children, Angelyn Isbell Brazil (Don), Amy Isbell Sleeman (Fred), Jayson Robert Isbell (Brad Burden); grandchildren, Jordan Harber, Rachel Harber, William Harber, Jack Sleeman, Anna Sleeman; and great-grandson, Weston Hardy. She is also survived by her brother, Edward Eagar, and nieces and nephews.
Tomilyn loved Auburn football, cooking for others, the beach and traveling the world with James.
A celebration of life service will be held on Monday, November 1 at First United Methodist Church, 115 South 5th Street in Gadsden. The service will be at 1 pm CT followed by the inurnment ceremony which will be at the Columbarium on the church grounds. The family will receive friends prior to the service at 12 pm CT and afterwards at a reception in the Gathering Room. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the charity of your choice or to First United Methodist Church, Gadsden, Ala.
