She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.

United Women in Faith

United Women in Faith (formerly United Methodist Women) is a faith-based membership organization of laywomen within the Methodist Church. Members are committed to growing as disciples of Jesus Christ in community with other women while advocating for women, children, and youth around the world.
For more than 140 years, United Women in Faith has been engaged in mission and service. The Gadsden First United Women in Faith supports a variety of local missions, as well as missions through the Mid-Central District and North Alabama Conference. Through Connectional Giving, members also help support mission projects in more than 50 countries.

Faith, Fellowship & Learning

United Women in Faith provides opportunities for women to grow in faith, build friendships, and learn from others. Monthly programs and luncheons feature guest speakers and presentations on topics that encourage spiritual growth, mission awareness, and involvement in the community.
Members may also participate in Circle Meetings, which provide a more intimate setting for Bible study, prayer, and devotions. These smaller groups offer opportunities for fellowship, meaningful conversation, and spiritual encouragement.

Serving Our Community

Through fundraising efforts—including the annual Spring and Fall Bake Sales and the Boston Butt Sale—the Gadsden First United Women in Faith provides financial support to nonprofit agencies in our community.
Members also serve our church through:
  • Congregational Care
  • The Howell Erwin Medical Fund
  • The Altar Guild
  • Prayer Warriors

In addition to these ministries, members provide occasional church receptions, and help decorate the church for the Christmas season, including the Chrismon Tree and Gathering Room Tree.
Through faith, fellowship, learning, service, and generosity, the Gadsden First United Women in Faith strives to make a difference in the lives of others—locally, nationally, and around the world.

More about Robertsons' Barbecue...

Robertson's BBQ and Catering was started in 1995 by George and Renee Robertson. George previously worked in the logging business and Renee was employed in the dental field. They were also involved with the Fosters-Ralph volunteer Fire Department where they helped cook and organize various fundraising efforts in the community.  They so enjoyed cooking for these fundraising events that they made the decision to start making their signature Boston butts available for other groups interested in a unique way to raise funds for various programs.  Their very first fundraiser was for a local church group and then the Myrtlewood Elementary School in Fosters. They helped raise money to help send all of the children in their daughter's class on the 6th grade trip to Washington, D.C.  George and Renee enjoyed their work so much that they started praying for the Lord to show them what they needed to do and which direction to take their business. He quickly opened the doors for their future and they have never looked back! They have continued their Boston Butt Fundraising program and now offer full line catering services, operate a BBQ restaurant & country store and operate a great new wedding and events facility.
