New Life in Christ, All Saints' Sunday
Sermon Notes: Thursday, Oct 30 and Sunday, Nov 2
November 1 is All Saints’ Day. In the United Methodist Church, all who follow Jesus are saints. All Saints’ Day is a time when we honor and remember the saints who have made their transition from earthly discipleship to being a part of that heavenly cloud of witnesses. First United Methodist Church will take the time to honor the saints among us who died in the past year during worship on October 30 and November 2. To help prepare for this sacred time, I ask that you remember these saints and those who continue to mourn (Shep Midgeley, Glen Pierson, Charles Cantrell, Bob McElory, Juanita Hammons, Pat Martin, Elisabeth Hardin, Gary Atkins, Mary Tom Hale and Elizabeth Barnes). Study and memorize the scripture for worship. (Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” John 11:25-26) Stop and pause to thank God for that great cloud of witnesses who are with us and inspire us each day.
In Christ,
Rev. Sherri
