First United Methodist Church of Gadsden Hosting Community Bed Build to Serve Local Children
GADSDEN, AL — First United Methodist Church of Gadsden is partnering with Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) to host a Community Bed Build aimed at ensuring no child in the Gadsden area sleeps on the floor.
The goal of the initiative is to build at least 100 beds and raise $25,000+ to provide beds to children in need throughout the community.
Sleep in Heavenly Peace is a national nonprofit organization with a local Gadsden chapter whose mission is “No Kid Sleeps on the Floor in Our Town.” The organization builds and delivers fully furnished twin beds to children who do not have one of their own.  “This is about dignity, safety, and hope,” said Jeanne Mabeus,  “When churches and community members unite, we can meet real needs right here at home.”
Community members can participate by:
  • Sponsoring a bed for $250
  • Making a donation in any amount
  • Donating NEW twin bed-in-a-bag bedding sets
  • Volunteering on Build Day (October 17)  Sign up will open soon.
  • Providing refreshments or sponsorship support
The Build Day will take place at First United Methodist Church of Gadsden on [Insert Date].
Local businesses, churches, and families are encouraged to participate.
