Giving

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases,
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
Lamentations 3:22-33
Why we give.
We are a giving church, because we recognize how much God has given to us! We have so many excellent ministries at First United Methodist Church of Gadsden, and we are only able to provide these ministries because of the generosity of our church family. We want to answer God’s call to give with excellence!
God wants us to give our time and our talents as well as financially. We would love to talk to you about ways you can be a part of First United Methodist Church of Gadsden's ministries!

FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH OF GADSDEN
Generosity 2023
Strength for today, bright hope for tomorrow!
Dear Church Family:
One of the most beautiful hymns in our hymnal was written based on the Old Testament passage, Lamentations 3: 22-23…
The faithful love of the Lord never ends!
His mercies never cease.
Great is his faithfulness;
his mercies begin afresh each morning.
If you haven’t already guessed, I am talking about Hymn # 140: Great Is Thy Faithfulness. Besides being a beautiful song, it is a reminder that faithfulness is connected to godliness. Why should I be faithful? Because God is always faithful. Why should I give? Because “all I have needed Thy hand hath provided.”
You will find included with this letter an estimate of giving card for 2023. We are asking that you pray about your contributions to your church for 2023, complete the card, and return it to the church office as quickly as you can (at least by November 30th), so that our Finance Committee can finish up the 2023 budget.
Your church needs more than just your financial giving in 2023…we need everyone to be “engaged” with church. We all promised to support our church with our PRAYERS, PRESENCE, GIFTS, SERVICE, and WITNESS. In other words, we all promised to be plugged into every part of the church and to do it faithfully.
In September, we saw 254 people show up for a pivotal vote for our church conference. There was much enthusiasm and participation. If you participated in this, thank you! Regardless of your voting preference, First United Methodist Church of Gadsden still needs you! We have served this community for over 175 years. God willing, we will continue doing so – right here in the heart of the city in the name of Christ.
No matter how you wanted the church conference vote to go, surely we call can agree that the mission of Sharing Christ, Making Disciples, Serving and Giving Hope is who we are and what we want to be about. Surely we can all agree that the wonderful missions of this church such as Ladle of Love, Clothes Closet, helping Striplin Elementary School, the Love Center, etc… need to continue. FUMC Gadsden was, is, and will continue to be a wonderful church, passing along the faith from generation to generation – that is – as long as its members continue to be engaged.
There is a line in the hymn, Great is Thy Faithfulness, that is so appropriate to where we are right now: “Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow…” That is what our Faithful God provides to us. That’s what we want you to be a part of. Your giving of tithes, offerings, time, talents, and service will help strengthen FUMC Gadsden today, and will help ensure bright hope for tomorrow. Your church needs YOU at this critical time in its history!
