Matthew 19:13-15
The Little Children and Jesus
13 Then people brought little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked them.
14 Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” 15 When he had placed his hands on them, he went on from there.
I read this scripture in the middle of our youth service week. I've seen our youth (6th-12th graders) do service work in our community at several locations. They have brought hope and joy everywhere they have gone. Also, the children's ministry went out today and did some work yesterday as well. I know that Jesus not only loves our kids, but Jesus also uses them to share his love with others.
This passage challenges me beyond just remembering how much God loves kids. I wonder who else is wanting to come towards Jesus and we try to turn them away. Maybe we try to clean them up, or want them to look or act more like us before they come to Jesus. I think Jesus responds to us in the same way as this passage and tells us to let them come to him.
Please be praying for our youth as they continue to service through Friday afternoon. Also, be praying for the wonderful folks who will come to the Exceptional Persons Party today.
