Micah 6:6-8 New King James Version (NKJV)
6 With what shall I come before the Lord,
And bow myself before the High God?
Shall I come before Him with burnt offerings,
With calves a year old?
7 Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams,
Ten thousand rivers of oil?
Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression,
[a]The fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?8 He has shown you, O man, what is good;
And what does the Lord require of you
But to do justly,
To love [b]mercy,
And to walk humbly with your God?
What does God want from us? How do we live our lives in faithfulness to Him? That is the question that is asked by the people of God in Micah 6:8. That is the question that we still ask today. And thankfully the answer is here before us... to do justice, love mercy and walk with him.
Each of us have gifts that can be used to show God's love in everyday situations in the world around us. The chance to reach out and to walk alongside someone in need or in pain is right there in front of us. Look at the world around us through the lens of Christ and we will see people that need to know His love; people that most don't see. How can we answer these needs? Are we willing to change our daily schedule to help someone? Are we willing to spend money or give up something we want for someone else's need? Are we willing to be bold in our discipleship?
Where is God calling you to step out and act for justice, faithful love, and discipleship?
Loving God, we give thanks for your gift of abundant life and love. Give us boldness to step out, to serve you, and to love others. Amen.
